A resident in Bretton has contacted me for assistance with an issue they have been facing. This individual relies on their mobility scooter to get around and has been experiencing difficulty due to motorists parking inconsiderately and blocking the drop kerb near their home.
This issue is not unique to them and affects other individuals in the area who are also dependent on their mobility scooters. It can lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness, which is unacceptable.
The problem has caused a lot of distress and pressure on the affected individuals and their neighbours. They have been forced to mount the grass verge to get around, which can damage their mobility scooters or even cause injury.
Therefore, I urge everyone to be considerate when parking and avoid blocking the drop kerbs.
Please keep in mind the needs of others, especially those with various disabilities, and ensure access is available for emergency vehicles.
