***The Bulky Waste Service for Bretton Residents***

The bulky waste service in Bretton is a valued community resource that residents take pride in. During the weekend of March 21, 2026, we collected 17 tons of waste, demonstrating how much we rely on this service. It is essential for maintaining our community and is the envy of other parts of the city where such services are not available.

However, I must point out that various items are being left at different sites for others to sort out. This is not how the bulky waste service operates. For instance, the Pyramid site on Saturday, March 21, 2026, has been reported, and additional items have since been added.

Every month, Bretton Parish Councillors volunteer in all weather conditions to deliver, manage bulky waste, and support residents.

To ensure everyone is aware of the schedule, please check the Parish Council website or notice boards for updates on service days and times. From the Parish Council’s perspective, we encourage everyone to follow the rules, which are designed to keep this service effective and accessible for all.

Residents must bring their discarded items to any of the five designated sites across Bretton during the specified time slots and stay until the items are properly disposed of. Leaving bulky items unattended will be considered illegal fly-tipping and may result in a fine.

We continuously question why some individuals are undermining this valuable service.

We ask residents to help us keep this service running smoothly. When waste is left unattended or improperly disposed of, it affects everyone and undermines the community effort we all cherish, reminding us of our shared responsibility.

If you can bring items to the sites, you should also be prepared to load them into the truck yourself, ensuring proper disposal and adherence to the rules. However, there will always be people available to assist you. Therefore, there is no excuse for improper disposal. This approach helps keep the service efficient for everyone.

It is not the responsibility of others to pick up your discarded items and load them into the vehicles.

As a Parish Council, we want everyone to work together and use the tools provided to residents of Bretton to help eradicate flytipping in our community.

Thank you, Bretton Parish Council
