As a way to tackle issues around shoplifting in Peterborough, we have been dedicating our time to doing targeted high-vis patrols around shops across the area to deter shoplifters and reassure businesses.
Yesterday was a busy day for us! Within an hour of heading out, we had arrested a woman for shoplifting in Matalan, Maskew Avenue. We were there for unrelated reasons and staff observed her concealing items before walking out of the shop.
The rest of the day consisted of taking statements, returning recovered stolen goods, and visiting businesses who have had recent issues with shoplifting.
We urge businesses to report any incidents of shoplifters to us, as we can put them in front of the courts and get orders put on them to prevent them from entering businesses in the area.
Kind regards
