Round-up of our work to tackle ASB this week

Our officers have completed another week of dedicated patrols to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Peterborough!

We spent some time patrolling areas of Bretton, focussing on the park and The Cresset. It was great to speak to staff at The Cresset to better understand the ASB they have been experiencing recently. ASB in this area is something the local neighbourhood team had been working closely with the staff to tackle, through issuing Community Protection Warnings (CPWs), increased patrols and working with the YMCA Youth Centre on long term solutions. We also got the chance to talk to some dog walkers in Bretton Park about their concerns and it was great to hear their feedback on the work we have been doing!

We work closely with the council enforcement team in the city centre to combat street drinking and its associated ASB. We conducted joint patrols with the enforcement officers, where we got the opportunity to talk to them about the ongoing issues in the area. The city centre and parts of Millfield are covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which bans people from having open vessels of alcohol in the area. Over the weekend, we issued three PSPO warnings to those found to be in breach of the order.

Patrols in the Eastfield area took us to Broadway Cemetery following community concerns. A group of people found to be loitering in the cemetery without good reason were dispersed and no other issues were raised on this occasion, but we will be in the area when we can. We also issued a Community Resolution (CR) and strong words of advice to a man who admitted being in possession of cannabis and tried to run away from us.

We have reported a car to the council after it was brought to our attention and checks on our systems showed that it had no tax, no insurance, and was registered to a different county!

At the weekend, we paid a visit to the Wellington Street car boot sale and met with security to discuss any concerns.

We walked for 2.5km around Central Park yesterday morning, talking to those we saw in the area. It was great to get to talk to them and get any feedback about the work we have been doing.

If you haven’t seen us out and about, and have some concerns you’d like to pass on, you can do so via our dedicated ASB webpages

Kind regards
