Welcome to the latest edition of your neighbourhood policing newsletter.
Over recent months, your north Peterborough Neighbourhood Policing Team have been focussing on three main areas as their local priorities, based on feedback from the community.
Road safety in Eye – The team held a dedicated day of action as well as carrying out patrols outside the schools where parking tickets were issued to several drivers who had parked illegally and dangerously. Checks were also carried out in Eye Road, Eye Green, for HGVs using the road and breaching the weight restriction, however no offences were seen.
Road safety in West Town – Five dedicated days of action were held alongside colleagues from partner agencies including the fire and rescue service to check their vehicles could manoeuvre easily through the area, and the local authority traffic enforcement team who have issued hundreds of tickets for illegal or obstructive parking.
The team issued one Traffic Offence Report (TOR) to a man who was driving while his child was unrestrained on his lap! Five tickets were also issued for illegal or obstructive parking.
Drug use and supply in West Town – Two dedicated days of action were held in West Town both in high-viz and plain clothes, on foot and on bikes.
Three stop-searches resulted in cannabis being seized from two people and them being issued community resolutions
Using feedback from the community, an area very close to a children’s playpark was found being used for drug consumption with needles and drug paraphernalia discarded on the ground. This was reported to the council to be cleared up.

North Peterborough Neighbourhood Policing Team
Current priorities for your north Peterborough Neighbourhood Policing Team
Every three months we use a combination of our own data and your feedback via our community policing survey to set three priorities for each of our neighbourhood policing teams to focus on for the coming quarter.
Between July and September this year, your north Peterborough team are prioritising:
- Anti-social behaviour around Bretton Centre
- Vehicle nuisance in Gunthorpe and Werrington
- Vehicle nuisance in Eye
Crime prevention and useful information
You might have seen messaging from us earlier this month about thefts from vehicles across Peterborough.
Since 1 June, there have been 126 reports of thefts across the city, with 32 taking place across the northern sector:
- West Town – 11
- Westwood – 5
- Walton – 4
- Bretton – 2
- Castor – 2
- Netherton – 2
- Barnack – 1
- Eye – 1
- Gunthorpe – 1
- Pilsgate – 1
- Werrington – 1
- Longthorpe – 1
Three of these had a window smashed to gain entry, while six were left unlocked, one had a window left open and the rest not known how entry was gained.
While we have made several arrests in recent weeks, thefts are continuing therefore we are urging people to be vigilant, take extra precautions and report any suspicious activity to us.
We would encourage anyone with video doorbells or CCTV to check footage for any offences and report it to us, even if it only looks like an attempt to enter a vehicle.
Precautions can be taken to deter thieves such as ensuring doors are locked and windows are closed when leaving the vehicle, even momentarily, and removing any items from inside.
