They produce and distribute a weekly audio recording of the local Peterborough News (about 90 minutes ). This is offered for free to blind and partially sighted people in Peterborough. They have a number of volunteers who take it in turn to edit and record the news and then to distribute using the local free postage service for articles for the blind. They also provide an mp3 player for those who need one. In addition to the service one of our volunteers ( who is blind himself), produces a monthly magazine edition for our listeners.
They believe their service, which is also available on podcast, is a service which many blind and partially sighted people find useful, keeping them in touch in a friendly and easy way with the local news. They have been operating in Peterborough since 1980 but in the last few years especially over the Covid period they have lost a lot of listeners. It is sometimes difficult for them to get their message across in the City especially to those who need.
