Bretton residents are fortunate to have access to the Bulky Waste Services, offered on the third Saturday of every month. This service provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals to declutter their homes or garages by disposing of unwanted items safely and responsibly.
However, it’s essential to be aware of the prohibited items, such as Ash, Soil, Bricks, Rubble, Stone, Gravel, Concrete, Car Parts, Engine Oil, Sand or Paint and UPVC products, which cannot be accepted.
Residents must accompany their discarded items to any of the six designated sites across Bretton at the allotted time slots and remain until the items have been correctly disposed of. Details of these can be found on the posters online or in the Bretton Gazette.
Leaving bulky items unattended is considered illegal fly-tipping, which could result in prosecution. Just to let you know, some individuals have been known to leave items unattended during the early hours or the night before, which is unacceptable. Please take a look at the pictures below.
Bretton Parish Councillors, who are dedicated volunteers, work tirelessly to assist residents with this invaluable service. Unfortunately, there have been instances where they have been threatened, verbally abused or even physically assaulted, which is unacceptable.
The Bulky Waste Service in Bretton is highly respected and admired by other areas in Peterborough. Therefore, please comply with the rules and demonstrate respect towards the Parish Councillors and Aragon staff who are present to assist you; if not, it could jeopardise this valuable service.
Many thanks, Parish Clerk for Bretton Parish Council
